Frequently Asked Questions Regarding gowns

Since the airing of the 6abc Action News segment, we have had a tremendous number of gowns donated to our program that we are so thankful for.  However, we have had to put the gowns collection on a temporary hold for now.  If you would like to donate your gown and it meets our requirements, please contact us with your email information and when the hold is lifted, we will contact you.   The wedding gowns that we accept MUST be white and in good condition, no stains.  They must also be of a HEAVY satin material, so it does not fray when the seamstress cuts the material to form the patterns of the outfits.  We do not accept wedding gowns that are made of a thin slip like material with a lace overlay or gowns that show a yellowing from age.  

There are two ways you can donate your gown to us.  You can ship it us, at your cost, by USPS or UPS or any other shipping carrier of your choice.  You do not need to ship in the original box.  You can roll the gown and place it into a much smaller box.  

If you are near our location, you are welcome to drop it off in person.  Our address, contact information and map is located on the home page.  Gown drop offs are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

We ask that you include your name, address and email address when giving us your wedding gown donation.  Your gown, upon arrival, is assigned a number.  When that number comes up in our processing rotation, it will be first assigned to a seamstress assistant who will take the gown apart and prepare the material for the seamstress.  When she is completed, it will then go to the next available seamstress who will create the infant bereavement items from the material provided.   When she can no longer make any more items from the material provided, the completed creations will then be matched up with blankets, hats and booties and a memory bag and sealed in a cellophane bag and placed into our inventory for the next shipment.  This entire process could take up to 6 months or longer as the volunteers work in the comfort of them own homes at their own leisure.  We will send you an email letting you know that your wedding gown has been completed and how many and what type of outfits were created from your donation.    In the past, we have taken photos of the items created and emailed them back to the donator, but we no longer offer that service.
