A Little About Our Labor of Love Program
Pregnancy loss is a harsh reality faced by many expecting couples. It is a devastating and painful loss to the parents. When a pregnancy loss occurs, the babies in the past were presented to the parents sometimes in no more than a washcloth, thin blanket or perhaps a towel to say their final goodbyes.

Pregnancy loss is a harsh reality faced by many expecting couples. It is a devastating and painful loss to the parents. When a pregnancy loss occurs, the babies in the past were presented to the parents sometimes in no more than a washcloth, thin blanket or perhaps a towel to say their final goodbyes.
Across the country, volunteer organizations have been forming to help comfort the grieving parents by creating and delivering beautiful infant bereavement attire outfits to the hospitals made from donated wedding gowns for these babies at no cost to the parents or the hospital.
In March of 2018, we organized an all-volunteer program for this service for the families that this may affect in our local and surrounding areas. We have expanded and now service hospitals in Central, Northern and Southern NJ, PA, VA, DC, DE, NY, MD, CT, FL, IL, MA, MI, OH, RI, MT, MS, AR, LA, WV and AZ. To date, we have supplied 77 hospitals in 20 states with 8,227 infant bereavement items. We deliver our inventory to the hospitals in person or by UPS ground shipping so they have the items in stock should a need arise for them. Our volunteers, with our labor of love program, create Angel Bereavement outfits for the babies in an array of many different sizes. We create boy and girl pouches for those tiny babies that are too small to be dressed. Our infant outfits come in 4 sizes: Micro, Tiny, Preemie and Newborn. Our volunteers, with our labor of love program, create Angel Bereavement outfits for the babies in an array of many different sizes. We create boy and girl pouches for those tiny babies that are too small to be dressed. Our infant outfits come in 4 sizes: Micro, Tiny, Preemie and Newborn. Also accompanying the outfits are crocheted booties, hats and blankets to make the ensemble complete. We also create from the donated wedding gowns, a memory bag for the parents in case they would want to keep any items pertaining to the baby such as the outfit or any important papers the hospital may give to them.
Currently we have received 402 gowns that have been donated to our program. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DONATING YOUR GOWN TO OUR PROGRAM, PLEASE VISIT OUR "GOWN DONATION" PAGE TO LEARN HOW TO DO SO. IF YOU SEND YOUR GOWN AND IT DOES NOT MEET OUR LISTED REQUIREMENTS, THE GOWN WILL BE DONATED TO ANOTHER CHARITABLE CAUSE. When you donate your wedding gown to our program, it is assigned a number. When the gown's number comes up in our rotation, it is assigned to a seamstress assistant who will take the gown apart and prepare the material for the seamstress. It is then assigned to a seamstress who creates the bereavement items. When she is finished with the gown, the items are given to the secretary, and she notifies the donator by email to let them know that the gown has been completed. The items are then packaged with hat, booties, blankets and a memory bag and placed into inventory for shipment.
We have 29 seamstresses that are currently sewing, 6 seamstress assistants, 7 knitters, 9 that crochet, 2 photographers and 1 web designer.

Our volunteer group does not make a profit from this program. We are a registered trade name, Non-Profit program with the state of NJ, but we are not large enough to qualify to be a 501 3 C. Any money or gift cards that are donated to us are given 100 percent back into purchasing supplies that the gown does not provide to our seamstre
Our volunteer group does not make a profit from this program. We are a registered trade name, Non-Profit program with the state of NJ, but we are not large enough to qualify to be a 501 3 C. Any money or gift cards that are donated to us are given 100 percent back into purchasing supplies that the gown does not provide to our seamstresses, knitters and those that crochet. (See our Packaging page for more details). Monetary donations are just as vital as the wedding gown donation is to keep our program operating. We have so many other costs that the wedding gown donation does not cover such as sewing Velcro, machine needles, threads, different size ribbons, soft baby flannel and fleece for the blankets, soft baby yarn for the knitters and those that crochet for the baby hats. On many occasions over the 5 years that, we have been operating, the volunteers have paid for those extra materials needed. We also have expenses such as the Indvidual cellophane bags that the outfits are packaged in, labels, stamps, printing, and the highest cost for us is the shipping charges.
